President

Lorryn Alvis-Andies | Nuclear Engineering| Rogersville, Tennessee

lalvisan@vols.utk.edu

Hey y’all! I’m Lorryn, a junior majoring in Nuclear Engineering with a minor in Decommissioning and Environmental Management and in the Cook Grand Challenge Engineering Honors program. I have interned with Southern Nuclear Company and Strata-G where I have gained valuable professional experience in the nuclear industry. Upon graduation, I plan to pursue a reactor engineering career with a focus on the management of radioactive materials.

In addition to my role as president, I am an ambassador for the Engineering Professional Practice office where I help other engineering students pursue professional opportunities by sharing my knowledge and experience. With my sorority sisters, I love attending football and basketball games, Go Vols! In my spare time I enjoy watching spooky and scientific videos when I get into a youtube wormhole with my cat MooMoo. I would love to chat with anyone interested in joining A.O.E. or about my professional experience!

Hi everyone! My name is Melissa, and I’m a junior majoring in Biomedical Engineering and minoring in Materials Science Engineering. I’m really interested in 3D printing and biomaterials, and I’m currently involved in undergraduate research here at UTK.

I’m also involved in the Biomedical Engineering Society, Tau Beta Pi, and the Chancellor’s Honors program. When I’m not in class or the lab, you can usually find me studying at Uperk, climbing at the Vol Wall, or getting coffee with my friends. I also love hiking and swimming, and I’m always down for an adventure. I’m very excited to be overseeing recruitmen
t this year, so if you have any questions, A.O.E. or otherwise, please reach out!
